Listeria illnesses in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia tied to Chicken Alfredo

The CDC reported as of June 18, 2025, a total of, 17 people infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria have been reported from 13 states: Florida 1, Illinois 1, Indiana 1, Louisiana 2, Michigan 2, Minnesota 1, Missouri 1, Nevada 1, North Carolina 1, Ohio 1, South Carolina 1, Texas 3 and Virginia 1.

Sick people’s samples were collected on dates ranging from August 1, 2024, to May 27, 2025. Illnesses started on dates ranging from July 24, 2024, to May 10, 2025. Of 17 people with information available, 16 have been hospitalized and 3 deaths have been reported from Illinois, Michigan, and Texas. One pregnancy associated illness resulted in a fetal loss.
