Scholarship to honor Medway man

Milford Daily News Television
Marler Clark donates $5,000 to establish the Powers Family-Marler Clark scholarship honoring John Powers, an 88-year-old WWII veteran and 1939 Medway High graduate who died from listeriosis after drinking contaminated milk in 2009. The scholarship will benefit Medway High School graduates studying science in college, offered in $1,000 increments. "We do a lot of safety work and we certainly represent individuals that are sick," said attorney David Babcock, "but we put a lot of effort into actually trying to have less work and have people make advances in food safety." Powers' widow Regina said Bill Marler's decision to establish the scholarship was surprising: "I really had nothing to do with it. It was very nice of him to do this on his own."
